Hippies, Hoverrounds and Health — An Introduction

Hello Everybody,

I’m sure you’re all glad to finally have something to do with your time while you’re waiting in line at a crowded bathroom after the movies, and for that, you are welcome. I am incredibly excited to announce that the Living Against the Grain blog is finally up and running. I had intended to have things well underway around the first of the year, but I obviously didn’t. School, work and an insatiable need for sleep just seemed to keep getting in the way. Now that the webpage is working however, I plan on releasing one post per week for the next 10-12 weeks about what health really is, and how to enjoy healthy living without wanting to hurl yourself at the mercy of the inviting concrete from the top of your local obliging 20 story office building. Or pound down a 20 ounce Frappuccino, both of which would accomplish roughly the same thing. I firmly believe that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be a roller-coaster ride in a hoverround, or some lonesome, cultish journey toward some crunchy, hippie mecca.

Healthy living can and should be a lifestyle that optimizes your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. And I’m here to tell you that all this can be achieved without undue stress on yourself and the loved ones around you. Wherever you’re at; whatever stage you’re in, there is community, support, and most importantly, a better quality of life waiting for you. This is what Living Against the Grain is all about. Our society has lost our health and our sense of community, and it’s high time we got them back.

Now that the line’s dwindled down and people are drifting toward their cars, just let me just say thanks for reading. And please remember that this is a work in progress. If you have any suggestions or ideas for topics you’d like to see posts about or ways to improve the site, please let me know.
